Make the “landscape” more impressive! -How to take a landscape photograph-
A landscape photograph is a photograph of a “landscape.” Natural landscapes such as mountains and the sea, which are called nature photos, and urban landscapes and buildings with artificial objects are called landscape photographs. This time, I would like to introduce the points of “how to take landscape photos.”
a composition that can be used in “landscape photography.”
Composition is very important in photography. Instead of taking pictures casually, you may end up with a completely different work just by being aware of it. For landscape photography, first, consider whether to take it horizontally or vertically. “Horizontal composition” has a sense of stability and is suitable for expressing expanse. “Vertical composition” is suitable for expressing height and depth.
Generally, when taking landscape photos, it is common to hold the camera sideways. Therefore, the vertical composition photo may look fresh. There will be no sense of stability or spaciousness, but the composition will be tense and tight so that you will get a different impression even in the same scene.

Also, in a scene with a horizon or horizon, you may be worried about where to align it on the screen. In such a case, try “Rule of Thirds.” Let’s put a horizon or horizon on the line that divides the screen into three. Here, the ratio of water surface 2: sky one is used. By making a difference, you can emphasize which is the leading role. When there are dramatic clouds in the sky, you can set Sky 2: Sea 1.
Check camera settings and angles!
If you are using a single-lens reflex camera, please check “Picture Style,” called the finish setting. With a digital camera, this is one of the settings that affect the color of a photo. There are several settings, usually “Standard.” Set this to “Landscape.” In “Landscape,” blue changes to a bright and deep color, and green changes to a bright and bright color, making the photo impressive.
I touched on composition initially, but what I want to keep in mind along with composition is the angle. The photos will always look similar. In such cases, review the shooting angle. If you hold the camera without thinking, you will often take pictures at eye level. There are horizontal angles, high angles, and low angles.
Shoot a landscape photography
Shoot from a high position at high angles. You can give the screen spaciousness. In the case of landscapes photography, it is a high angle when viewed from a place like an observatory with a good view or a tall building. When shooting at a low angle, look up from a low position. It has the effects of giving power, emphasizing the height, and giving a sense of dynamism. By changing the angle, the impression will change greatly.
The composition that you want to change depending on the weather
As I wrote at the beginning, landscape photography also includes urban landscapes. Would you mind-challenging not only the natural scenery but also the scene with bridges and buildings? The day I go out to shoot is not always sunny. On cloudy or rainy days, be aware of the amount of sky. In landscape photography, the sky is often included. If there are a lot of whitish skies covered with clouds, it will give a lovely impression of a murderous landscape. Let’s be aware of the composition that reduces the amount of sky!
And not only the weather but also the best time to shoot. Recommended is early morning and evening. You can enjoy dramatic scenery during sunrise and sunset, which is called “magic hour.” I also want to check the direction of the sun.
There is also a time called “Blue Moment.” Immediately after sunset, it’s time to look blue before the sky turns black. If the conditions such as clean air, fine weather, and red sunset are not met, you will not see beautiful blue, but you can create a “blue world” by changing the white balance. You can capture a blue landscape if you set the white balance to incandescent light bulbs, fluorescent lights, etc.
